This NOAA satellite image taken Monday, February 08, 2010 at 12:45 PM EST shows widespread clouds covering the Central US as two systems produce unsettling weather activity throughout the region. Low pressure moving across southern Texas pulls moisture from the Gulf of Mexico northward into the Plains, while another area of low pressure from the north ushers a cold airmass into the region. This combination sparks precipitation development from the Upper Midwest through eastern Texas and Arkansas. The brunt of this precipitation falls across Arkansas as a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow. Elsewhere, showers begin to spread into northern Mississippi, while patches of light snow develop across northern New England. Fairer weather conditions prevail across the remaining eastern third of the nation.

The combination of these systems and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico fuels a mix of light scattered rain and snow showers from portions of northern Texas and Arkansas through North Dakota and Minnesota. Meanwhile, quieter and clearer weather develops across the eastern third of the nation.
